Focus
These words are torture. So simple to say, yet the inability is among many. Which reminds me, the first hurdle we must over come is our self. We are our only obstacle.
These are definitions of focus:
~Webster definition: the concentration of attention or energy on something
~Tunnel vision defined: a condition in which peripheral vision is greatly restricted
~Briany Quote: One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular. Tony Robbins
Sitting still is so important to getting a clear vision of where you are. It's an opportunity during the day to be true to your nature, to recharge your energy and to feel the honesty of your feelings.
People are afraid to surrender to the quite for a few reasons. Maybe afraid of what they'll find...“It's a sad man my friend who's livin' in his own skin and can't stand the company" springsteen. Afraid of the responsibility of realizing his purpose and not ready to live it. Afraid, for no other reason than not having self control.
Think of it this way..your cell phone is a vital piece of equipment. It's a fully functioning, useful necessity in our life, when it's fully charged. When the battery runs low, it needs to be charged. Most of us leave the phone sitting in a charging place, realizing it takes a little time for it to recharge. We are kind of like that phone, when our physical battery runs low, we need rest and when our mental battery runs low, we need rest. Take a few moments during your day and sit still. Let natural energy recharge within you.
You may experience discomfort the first time or two, as with most things new.
Ease into it. If you want a little mood music (no vocals) to sit with, that's okay and don't worry about the time at first. If your mind is racing, stop and write your thoughts down. Get it off your chest and bring yourself back to center. Let your mind wander softly. If my mind starts to think about random things, I bring my focus to my heart area. As I inhale, I'm bringing the breath into the heart area (that's a yoga practice). I identify my center as my chest area, that way when I need to control random thinking I can take deeper breaths focusing on that area and it helps block out distraction.
Your mind will rest and occasionally it will show you things. If it starts recalling your to do list, bring it back to center. You might even fall asleep, and that's okay too, but not every time :)

and just being
is vital to your body
